BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE ORGANISATION

The Human Rights Defense Section - SDDH / AAC - is one of the sixteen cultural sections of the Academic Association of Coimbra. It was founded in 1997 with the values and mission of promoting and raising awareness of the various themes on Human Rights. The work carried out by SDDH / AAC aims at information, training and informal education on the various themes of Human Rights.
In this sense, SDDH / AAC carries out projects “for students and by students” trying to get closer and closer to their peers, encouraging a critical, attentive and active spirit in the face of the issues that occupy today within the scope of Human Rights. Projects with diversified formats are developed, seeking to correspond to the various receptivity found in the academic environment.
At the same time, SDDH / AAC seeks to develop partnerships with public and private institutions and entities, preferably from the city of Coimbra, with a similar mission in order to contribute to awareness, education and training at local and national level.
SDDH-AAC is made up of people aged 16 and over, and also students and non-students, however, most of its active members are students of Higher Education of Coimbra from the most diverse areas (Languages, Sciences and Technologies, Medicine, Law, Social Work, Mathematics, History, Nutrition, among others).
The work is developed as a team to promote the development of soft skills and awareness and training to work in the field of Human Rights.
All partners voluntarily contribute to the projects of their interest, allowing everyone to propose, coordinate and participate in causes that are close to them.

HOW THE ORGANISATION WILL CONTRIBUTE TO THE DISSEMINATION AND EXPLOITATION OF THE PROJECT RESULTS

Our organisation will help sharing the project in the Academic Community, as well as look for a more direct approach with refugees, in order to help this project succeed.
We will collaborate in events and always that our insight is required.
