DESCRIPTION AND METHODOLOGIES

Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) is receiving funds from DAAD (German Academic Exchange Service) for a programme called „Welcome – students initiatives for refugees“. The Study ambassador program at KIT and Student volunteer coordination initiative are two of these initiatives.

Study ambassador program at KIT

Study ambassadors of the KIT are themselves students of the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology in different study programs. They inform prospective students with a refugee background in different languages (German, English and Arabic). They hold the weekly open consultation and, each semester, various information events for refugees in cooperation with the International Students Office and the refugee coordinator.

Student volunteer coordination initiative

The initiative started in April 2020 to coordinate international voluntary student initiatives at KIT and others in Karlsruhe. The goal of the iniative is to create a platform for local international voluntary student initiatives and connect them in a single interactive network.
