Description of Dissemination Event:

The Hellenic College of Thessaloniki, with special emphasis on encouraging and raising the awareness of young people about the parliamentary democracy of Europe and the formation of a European citizenship, organized an online Simulation of the Plenary Session of the European Parliament in the framework of the "Schools-EP Ambassadors" EU Program.

The event was organized with the support of the European Parliament Office in Greece, the Institute for European Research and Training (I.R.T.E.A.) and the Erasmus + Jean Monnet Project "Strategies and Policies on Youth in the EU". The students participated in a "Role Play" and consulted as MEPs on a European Commission proposal to strengthen the voice of the younger generation of European citizens in political decision-making.

The aim was through a fruitful and constructive dialogue to emerge, after a vote, bills that will provide solutions to issues that concern young people. The event was greeted by Ms. Aikaterini Theofilopoulou, Executive Officer of the European Parliament Office in Greece, who referred to the Conference on the Future of Europe. The keynote speaker was the MEP Eva Kailis, who informed the students-MEPs about the European Curricula and discussed with them issues related to young people. The event was attended by Mr. Stefanos Katsoulis, Director of the UNESCO Youth Club of Thessaloniki, who presented the European Union Youth Strategy 2019-2027 and the TOGETHER Project as a good example of Erasmus+ project opportunities that foster cooperation among the EU Member States and promote inclusive education.
